OUR HISTORY

Weymouth MRI was founded in Weymouth MA by a group of Physicians in June of 1989 with a vision for the future, when the practice of free standing MRI Imaging centers first began.

The Weymouth location began with one high field MRI unit and diagnostic x-ray to meet the imaging needs of the local community. In 1997 when Robert Mortensen was hired as Chief Executive Officer, he rapidly expanded the practice to address the changing market for imaging services. He explored ways to improve the image quality of MRI while marketing the importance of quality focused patient care. With quality in mind, he was soon able to upgrade the MRI to the first 1.5 Tesla Short Bore scanner in order to meet all our capabilities. In 2001, a second modality, Multi-slice CT scanning, was introduced into the practice which allowed for angiography studies as well as the imaging of all parts of the body including the upper and lower jaws for dental implant preparations.

Weymouth MRI continued its expansion in March 2007 with the opening of our second location called Seacoast Advanced Diagnostic Imaging. Located in the expanding South Plymouth area of Cedarville, just off Exit 2 on Route 3 and 1 mile North of the Bourne town line, it accommodates our referral base Physicians in the Plymouth and Cape Cod areas and beyond. The new Siemens Espree Large Bore high field MRI is the newest in technological advancements in the industry and will deliver the highest quality imaging results while being the most patient friendly. Patient and Physician satisfaction are the main focus of our actions.
